stopping dns forwarding requests in BIND

Plz suggest ways to stop forwarding of dns request from my BIND dns server. My dns server should resolve only for the domains for which it is the authority and for the domains to which it's not the NS it shoud not resolve.
Currently the server is forwarding the request to the root servers for resolving.Kindly suggest ways to handle this.Thanx in advance.

hi,

maybe you mean recursive queries ?
if so - check allow-recursion configuration parameter.

Long time reader first time poster

Sorry for not starting a new thread but this question is quite relivant to the issue I have and dont think it has be answered correctly yet.

I am using bind 9.3 for a network that will never be connected to the internet. I can see that bind continues to forward DNS request to the root servers as some apps continue to try and resolve. How can I just totally stop these lookups?

I have one forward and reverse zone master defined and this works fine.

Thanks
