sshd load at 80% while using rsync

Is it normal to have the sshd process using up 80% of a dual CPU 2ghz P4 server while receiving files over rsync at about 100kB/s?!

It seems excessive to me.. Plus, it's making the server run slowly.

I am not sure about the 100kBps speed but if you run rsync with the '-z' option to compress and speedup the
transfer, 80% must not be a strange one AFAIK !
