And how they have the IP of your phone? When you move around the IP of your phone may change, how the computer in the coffee house is supposed to know what the new IP address is?
when you open up the app and use it they can set it up to go to there servers and then they get what ever IP you're using to get there. Without an "account"
the got a sign up an account is the step I am reffering to.
it can be written to just open up app it send your IP to them then works out a soloution without having to sign in to there servers.
it is still not working. I made an accound with the phone, opened up their page in my laptop typed in my email / passwd and its telling me user name pass word combo is incorrect. I didn't even get a comfirmation email to afirm my account.
they got a have me get an account from them - everyone else sends a affirmation email to complete the transaction. Now I can't sign in....
Your laptop connects to their service and uses their private DNS to look up your phone IP address (which your phone is reporting to them). Yes, this service is private, not public. In order to stay private one must login to access it.

Look I understand that but the point being is that it does not need an account... just making points is all.....
but I maybe wrong....
You don't need to create an account to use Airdroid. You don't need the web interface at all. Nor do you need to set up your own hotspot. Just connect locally, and it all works. You're making the whole thing much more difficult than it needs to be.
When multiple devices are connected to the same network, they can see each other, and connect to each other if allowed. Ssh is a different thing altogether.
