SQUID and /etc/passwd auth (with group?) pam?

Hi everyone,

It is possible that I've missed something but I've look on google, here and few other forums without any joy.

Is there any chance that someone could point me into right direction please?

I'm struggling with SQUID and PAM authentication. I need to use /etc/passwd file but that doesn't seems to work? Squid asks for password but then rejects as access denied... I have pretty standard setup and I'm sure I need to make some changes to /etc/pam.d/squid but can't find the right one.

I'm using RHEL 5.2 with all updates.

Also, with Squid Cache: Version 2.5.STABLE1 I was able to use:

auth_param basic program /usr/lib/squid/pam_auth -n squid -1 -g internet

which means that pam_auth helper was checking group "internet" so only people from that group could get access to the internet. That is not possible anymore with pam_auth helper from Squid Cache: Version 2.6.STABLE6.

Any help much appreciated

Thank you in advance

Chris
