Split two connections into one fast

Hi all,

I have a question. Is it possible to split two DSLs

(2Mbit + 2Mbit = 4Mbit) into one connection ?

My backup server need faster connection but I have right now only 2Mbits which is not enought. My boss told me that during night I can use another connection with 2Mbit speed. Is it possible to split together two connections into one and download data with maximum speed 4mbits ?

I dont think so, neither I have heard about any such thing.

Also, I believe the name of the thread should be Join two connections into one fast.

Yes this is possible.
However, note that for example when you visit a website you will only use one connection at a time, as all packets are routed based on the IP and TCP will have different sessions for different connections.

But you can make the throughput higher if for example it gets load balanced over the two connections.
You first download will then go through the 1st connection and the second download over the second connection.

Hello dlugasx

The buzz words are "Multi WAN", "Load balancing" and "Aggregating" routers.

Product research notes from October 07 attached; dated but may be some use. Sorry about some of the links being split across pages; .pdf was the best permissible format. The routers without rejection reasons were the ones to go forward with.

The project was not implemented so I have no practical experience for you.
