snort process gets killed on embedded board

hi all,
I have an x86 based embedded board, wherein I have used linux 2.6.11.1 based kernel and buildroot based filesystem on a 512MB compact flash card, as the storage device,to make a server. The O.S is working properly as a server and also has working firewall, and contentfilter,

but
when i m using snort(Intrusion detection system) ,the process of snort gets killed by itself, after some time.

wot can be the problem???

ANY INPUT IS APPRECIATED

when I'm using Snort, the process of Snort gets killed by itself, after some time.
What version?
How was it configured?
What does the log say?
Any syslog messages?
How about a strace?

Could be Linux obnoxious out-of-memory process killer.
