SMTP server/client, LAN only

Hello,
we have several temperature/humidity measuring devices connected to LAN which are able to send email messages periodically through SMTP protocol. I want to configure an SMTP server and client (for example, exim4). I've never tried to configure the mail server, so here are my needs:

- Measuring devices are configured by entering the server IP, login and password.
- Devices should send email through my server and to my server.
- LAN only.

So I need your help on the mail server configuration.

Thanks in advance,
Michael.

As far as I know, the default Postfix configuration should work, especially if it is on Red Hat or a derivative. There is no need to login though; by default, SMTP can be used without any credentials.
