SMTP authentication error and server could not connected in postfix server

Dear all,

I have configured the postfix server on my local machine and i am able to send an email to the user that i have created in the local machine
(i have configured squirrelmail) but when i configured the thunderbird and Mail evolution either from the local and remote client for the user that i have created on my local server it show error smtp error and could not connect to server the connection was refused.Can you tell me what is the solution of this problem.Thankyou.
