Slicehost with 256 MB RAM

Hi i am running a server from slicehost with 256MB of RAM

I am not running anything else other than apache2 and mysql that too for a single website and there is no traffic at all because i am the only one who uses the site for testing..

Problem is the images on my site takes ages to load into the browser. I've checked on the server. the ram was about 60 MB free and there were 11 apache2 processes are running. I've enabled the expires module and disabled the status module of apache.
what else can i do to optimize the website or. should i upgrade the server to 1GB ??
