SLES: making a YOU server for SLES9 and SLES10
Here at my job, we've been using SLES for quite a while. Since the release of SLES10, our newer servers are SLES10, our older ones are still SLES9. Some, we can not migrate to 10 (yet), so our infrastructure will remain a mix of versions 9 and 10 for a while.
For SLES9, we have a YOU server configured, which sucks the latest patches for this version from the web so the other SLES9 servers can get up to patchlevel by using this particular server in stead of all having to connect to Novell (plus, some aren't even connected to the internet). Our server is also an install server we use to quickly install software on our servers.
We want to keep a single server for software and patches, but we've noticed that the patch system in YaST in SLES10 is different from SLES9. Is it even possible to have a single server being our network's YOU (yast online update) server or would we have to split this into a server supplying patches for the network for the SLES9 servers and another for the SLSE10 servers?
Hope anyone can point me in the right direction (yes, we've tried Google and searching the Novell website).
