Shutdown option

Dear all,

I am testing Red Hat 9.0 server version. I installed and tested it.By default, if pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL it restart. I want to shutdown without log in by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL keys.I saw this options one of my friend's cyber cafe. I changed /etc/inittab file and some options but it still restart. Is it can be change? If can, pls guide me what should I do?

Best Regards:

Can you post the line inside inittab? Don't forget that inittab changes only take effect when you reboot. As far as I know at least. Might be possible to have init read inittab through a SIGHUP but not sure of it.

here's the line from a debian installation
Code:
ca:12345:ctrlaltdel:/sbin/shutdown -t1 -a -r now
this would shut the machine down if it would not be for the nasty -r option. Man pages have this recorded as reboot after shutdown. So make sure you don't have the -r option within your inittab line.

Cheers Zhjim
