Unhappy server root partition full

Hi

I am using Cadence virtuoso on Unix.
when ever I run large simulations the server is stack because the root partition is full.

when I look for the larghe file, I don't found any uege file, but after boot (init6, by
administrator) the
partition return to its original size and all programs return working.

I suspect it relate to virtual memory buffer need to be free or alocate to another
partition

Is any one share such issue or know how to dill with it

Thanks
Dror

If you refer to Cadence Virtuoso Setup Guide, chapter 4, http://www.egr.msu.edu/classes/ece41...e-virtuoso.pdf, you'll note that you run in the same directory every time you use it. You're probably set up to run somewhere in the root directory and you'll need to move that location to another disk partition with a good-size chunk of free space.

How much? Well, use the df utility to see how much free space you have on the root partition:
Code:
df -h
(if the -h option, which displays sizes in bytes, is not available on your system, just enter df and hit the return).

This will show you the entire system disk allocation, use and free space. The free space in the root partition apparently is not enough, so, find one of the other disk partitions (that you can write to!) with at least 150% of the root free space available and move or re-do your set up to use that partition.

That ought to do it.

Hope this helps some.

Check the /var/log/messages file to identify the correct reason for this server hung state
