Server is not working in ubuntu

Can anyone help me???
sendmail not work in my system
i am working in the Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS \n \l sysytem

Have you looked in /var/log/maillog and /var/log/messages for more relevant information?

Please post anything you find there.
