Server Freeze . . . .

Have a strange problem with one of my servers freezing. After a while it just stops! If im connected through ssh the session just freezes, and the same happens to any user logged into the mashine localy. + the server stops responding to a ping.

I have looked in /var/logs/ and cant find anything that explains anything. (CentOS 4.4). Is there a specific log i should be looking for... The only thing i can do when it happens is restart. and then it happend again after a while!!!

The only thing that i can think is that it is a very old mashine, with low memory, but why would it only happen after a time period?

Any help would be much appreshiated!

What are the specs of the machine? What exactly do you consider "low memory"?

Have you checked that the machine is not overheating? My first thought was some thermal issue, where it locks up due to the CPU overheating. That would never register in any of the log files.
