sendmail two hosts

Ok, I have two hosts connected to one internet gateway. I want to send email from one host to the other but it keeps trying to go out of the gateway. I'm stumped.

SERV01 running redhat and sendmail
SERV02 running SUSE10 and sendmail

I want to send mail to SERV01 from SERV02

I am trying to send to user@SERV02.ccc.com from SERV01 but it keeps going out the getway. I have DNS setup for both servers and my sendmail.mc is pretty simple, they both look very similar to this.

divert(-1)
include(`/usr/share/sendmail/m4/cf.m4')
divert(0)dnl
VERSIONID(`Sendmail Config for SERV01 29/09/2007')dnl
OSTYPE(`linux')dnl
DOMAIN(`generic')dnl
define(`ALIAS_FILE', `/etc/aliases')dnl
MAILER(local)dnl
define(`confLOCAL_MAILER', `cyrus')
MAILER(`cyrus')

I'm stumped, local mail is fine and sending to external hosts is fine too.

nslookup gives something similar to this
Server: 127.0.0.1
Address: 127.0.0.1#53

Name: serv01.liftcapital.com.au
Address: 192.168.250.5

or the other ip address depending on where i lookup from,

I reckon I'm missing something pretty basic somewhere?

Wink Sendmail host problem.

Do send me your sendmail.mc file of both the servers to analyse.

Check your SMART_HOST line.

Check whether "DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Port=smtp,Addr=127.0.0.1, Name=MTA')dnl" line is commenmted.

Have you set up DNS on both the servers properly?

Can you send mail from one server to other using IP address insted of using Domain name?.

Please provide me all Zone files of DNS servers and sendmail.mc files. I can solve your problem.

sendmail two hosts

Ahh, I have this sorted.

One of the servers had a SMART_HOST, adding a couple of lines to support local hosts fixed the problems as per the Sendmail book 4.3.3.7

Thanks for the reply though

define(`SMART_HOST', `liftmail.liftcapital.com.au')dnl
LOCAL_NET_CONFIG
R$* < @ $* .$m. > $* $#esmtp $@ $2.$m $: $1 < @ $2.$m. > $3

slight variation there but it's pretty much what sendmail by costales and allman says
