sendmail sending mail but not collecting

Hi Folks,

I have an issue with a dial-up ISP which has stopped working recently as they have changed their set up.

Initially it was a case of dialling up and all mail was piped through one server (in and out).

Now they have changed to a separate SMTP and pop server (both requiring authentication).

I can send mail fine but not receive and am unsure of where to tell sendmail the new mail server name (along with authentication credentials)

I have the following in the access file

AuthInfo:smtp.isp.co.uk "U:administrator@mydomain.isp.co.uk" "I:administrator@mydomain.isp.co.uk" "P:9999" "M:LOGIN PLAIN"

This seems to work as I can send mail fine.

What's the equivalent for receiving mail?

BTW this is an old RH7 box I have taken over and the sendmail.cf file has been edited directly previously.

Cheers for any help.

Hi, sendmail is not responsible for mail receiving, it is used for sending emails. You are supposed to use pop3/imap for mail receiving. If you had received email earlier, then you should already have an pop3/imap account configured in your pc. May be you need to change that configuration.

Well, it seems you are using sendmail as a smtp relay to your ISP. How, using which software you used to access/download/read email?
