Sendmail / MySQL CPU Time Question
Okay so we have a mass-mailing php script and I was just wondering if we should get that script its' own server. I'm not quite sure what information I should give here and I realize my question is far too general - let me know what other information you'd need.
Basically the server it is now on is our main database server and that thing runs pretty slowly. I'm just wondering if it would noticeably increase speed if I took off sendmail. Or stopped it. I realize that you probably need to know the load on it and the specs of the server so here they are: Here's the "cat /proc/cpuinfo" processor : 0 vendor_id : AuthenticAMD cpu family : 6 model : 10 model name : AMD Athlon™ XP stepping : 0 cpu MHz : 2000.225 cache size : 512 KB fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug : no coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 1 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 mmx fxsr sse syscall mmxext 3dnowext 3dnow bogomips : 3970.35 And then the "free -m" total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 2016 1966 50 0 131 1611 -/+ buffers/cache: 223 1793 Swap: 3027 43 2983 Also, the average load on it goes to around 3-4 tops. Personally, I don't believe there's anything wrong with the average load time or the specs. I think it's a bandwidth issue. Let me know if I'm horribly wrong! |
