Sendmai can send mails but unable to receive mails

Hi folks,

slamd64-11.0
sendmail

The mail server can send mails but unable to receive mails. I don't have its front-end package such Evolution/Thunderbird installed. I ran command line to perform following test.

1)
# telnet localhost 25
....
etc.

send a mail to yahoo.com. Mail received without problem.

2)
Send a webmail from yahoo.com to this server. Failure.

um.. i don't think that sendmail receives mail at all, it is an smtp server. you need a pop or imap server to handle the getting mail. I know it's weird. i just went through all this myself. You need two seperate servers to send and reveive mail.

btw, you might want to edit your post and put xxx instead of your real ip address.

# slackpkg search smtp
Code:

.....
[ installed ] - getmail-4.6.3-noarch-1
[uninstalled] - sendmail-cf-8.13.8-noarch-4

# slackpkg search pop
Code:

....
[ installed ] - getmail-4.6.3-noarch-1
[uninstalled] - sendmail-cf-8.13.8-noarch-4

# slackpkg search imap
Code:

.......
[ installed ] - getmail-4.6.3-noarch-1
[uninstalled] - sendmail-cf-8.13.8-noarch-4

From above can getmail replace them? TIA
