Segmentation fault over UBUNTU SERVER

I install in 4 times my server with UBUNTU SERVER 8.10, this works 24/7 fine, but after some time start to recive a Segmentation fault with all commands (ls, cp...), change the memory RAM, and Hard disk, and download again the cd; always the same problem. What is the problem?

Sounds like a hardware issue to me. It was not clear but I gather you said you changed out the RAM and disk? If you did, it could be the CPU if it's overclocked or simply just going bad for no reason.

I'd say run memtest on it overnight and see if that discovers anything, otherwise find a good cpu tester and try that.

Hi, i have Ubuntu 8.04.2, and i have installed apache2, mysql, php5, Squid and am now trying to install Samba. but when i type the command:
sudo apt-get install samba
or
sudo apt-get install samba smbclient

It always comes up with:
Building dependency tree... 78%
then it changes to:
Segmentation faulty tree... 78%

i cannot do any commands that need to build a dependency tree. i have restarted my machine, but it still errors.

i have a 20 GB hard drive.
i am doing nothing on my computer except that, so it int all clogged up with other stuff.

i dont understand this because it was working fine when i installed apache and Php5 and MySql and FTP and Squid

I cant even start or restart Squid.

any help please??

Thanks

Luke

Hi, on the part on the top toolbar, where the Applications and places and System are, on the right hand side near the time, there is the update thing telling you how many updates you have, it is a horizontal line with a red circle around it, like the no entry signs, and when you roll over it with your mouse, it says: " an error occoured when checking for updates. "
when you double click on it, it come up with searching for updates and then it trys building the tree, and it fails exactly the same.

This might help anyone??

Thanks

Luke.
