Samba without domain and users with domains cannot log in to the shares

Hi all,

We are setting up a simple ubuntu server and we want to share some data to some windows computers.

The samba server is not an official member to the domain, and laptops we are using are member of an domain. This seems to give some problems with login into the shares.

We can see the shares but when we want to login he gives an error such that we cannot login.

Does anybody know how to resolve this

Have you added the Windows users to Samba's password file?

smbpasswd -a username

Thank you for your reply.

The users were converted to samba users with an automated script so these were alright.

But I was not too smart creating a directory with root, so the privileges weren't set right in the Linux filesystem at beginning.

So we changed this and we could login.

So problem solved.
