Samba users can't execute some files (pdf/doc/jpg)

I have moved users over to a new samba server and copied their files. I have run into a problem that I haven't seen before. The users cannot open pdf/doc/jpg on their profile or any share. They have 770 permissions to do so, and samba gives me no error. I have no idea what XP is doing. It doesn't seem to save their local settings either.

What's in the smbd log file ?

Maybe you'll have to increase the log level to see useful info.

tail the %m.log file for that specific XP client, then try to open these files and give us whats happening. if you dont see anything, set loglev to 3.

Also look at the files themselves. Are they zero length files for some reason?

I fixed the problem. I had to remove the nt* and NT* files in the user profiles. I rebuilt the profiles and copied the data over without the nt* and NT*. I don't know what Microsoft put in there, but it made XP really mad.
