samba host allows for a /24

I want to add a hosts allow into my smb.conf, but not sure if 1.2.3. is the same thing as 1.2.3.0/255.255.255.0 but just a shorthand way to put it in there?

Or I guess maybe the better question is, how many different ways can you specify 1.2.3.0/255.255.255.0 for the hosts allow parameter?

AFAIK, both 1.2.3.0/24 and 1.2.3. are acceptable.
