Samba file permissions

hi,
I have a debian wheezy file server with samba running.
I have setup a basic 'n' drive which I have mapped into my windows home premium as drive n:\ in my computer.
Is it possible to setup some folders which will give me exclusive access and block other users which use the n drive? I.E through I can see all files and folders and the normal users can just see the n drive but not my files?

Yes, this is possible as long as you and the other user(s) connect using different accounts. You could accomplish this in several ways:
  • use a dedicated account for yourself and map unknown users to the guest account
  • manually create accounts on the file server for all users (and perhaps disable guest account mapping)
  • configure Samba as a domain controller and have the PCs join the domain
If all you want is a way to separate your files from everybody else's, the first alternative will work and is pretty easy to set up.
