Hello everyone this is my first post in this forum I would like to great you all and hope to have help here and be helpful.

so my problem is that I want to implement a samba domain controller on the network I read allot about the subject but when get to implementation a had all kind of problems (maybe because I am new in using Linux networking), ok I configured smbconf file as simple as I can to be able to manage it and make all the needed shares needed to implement samba domain controller but when I try to enter the domain from the windows client it asks about user and password, I have been told to enter as a root account but still gives me the message(can not find user name).

Note 1: I did create a root account using (smbpasswd -a).
Note 2: when I use a wrong user name and password the message change to (user name or password is wrong).

Please help me

i discoverd that, in my smbpasswd file the accounts that i creat did not have '$' appended to it
so what should i do

Note : i am usung Samba Version 3.0.24
