Samba AND NFS share of the same directory
So I've got a Linux cluster that requires a shared FS to work properly. No problem, I setup a NFS share from the head node to all the sub-nodes.
However, I also have to share this same directory out to Windows clients. Can I setup SAMBA on the same head node and share the same directory out via SAMBA or am I going to get all sorts of inconsistencies as the two sharing technologies fight?
I theoretically COULD install some sort of NFS client on the windows machines, but I'd really prefer to not have to do such a thing. I also theoretically COULD use Samba to share the FS to the cluster, but I'd really prefer to not do that because the clustering software expects NFS, and Samba does all sorts of odd things to userids, groups, permissions, etc that I don't want to deal with between nodes in the cluster.
