running mysql_install_db
i installed mysql on Fedora 9 using yum.
when i tried to follow these post-install instructions: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/...nstall-db.htmli was stuck because i cannot find what to use as --basedir. e.g. [/var/lib/mysql @ 17:51:44]>mysql_install_db --user=mysql --basedir=/usr/bin --datadir=/opt/mysql/mysql/dataso, when i look for 'my_print_defaults' [/var/lib/mysql @ 17:31:32]>find / -name 'my_print_defaults' -printi still get the same error saying that it can't find my_print_defaults in basedir but it is there. is this a bad error msg or something ? |
basedir means, where you have installed(directory) mysql
|
i installed it using yum, i.e. let it choose the dir.
i tried every dir where i could find reference to mysql but they all fail: find / -name 'mysql' -print /usr/share/mysql /usr/bin/mysql /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.0/i386-linux-thread-multi/DBD/mysql /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.0/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/DBD/mysql /usr/lib/mysql /var/lib/mysql |
