running mail server with port 25 blocked

so i am running my server here at home. Sadly, my ISP blocks port 25. I have to use their smtp server. This is fine for me. What I want to do is set up a mail server on my home server and have it work. I am guessing that means that I would have to use the isp smtp server, but other than that do i need to make any changes? I am going to follow the howtoforge.com perfect setup guide to install postfix and such (http://howtoforge.com/perfect_setup_ubuntu_6.10_p5). will this work at all?

Thanks!!

That is not going to work at all if your ISP blocks 25. Yes you could use their server to send outgoing messages, but your server would also receive messages from other servers at port 25. If they only have 25 blocked in the outbound direction you could have it work, but if it is completely blocked you're S.O.L.

All servers communicate at port 25, that is the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol port, so you can't run at a different port and still communicate with the world at large.

Peace,
