Rsync not backing up MySQL

I have an rsync set up on my server, but the problem is that the mysql databses aren't backed up.

The sql files exist in the backup but are empty.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

They're empty where rsync is copying them over or from the source directory? A little more details how your rsync is backing up your files might be helpful, along with permissions and what user is used to do the backups, etc.

It's a backup set up from WHM. The original databases are ok, but when they get backed up the copies are empty.

Sounds like a permissions issue. What is the exact command used to rsync these over to the backup host and what are the permissions, along with the user/userid that owns these and what user is being used for the rsync?
