RHN Satellite server has new Flex Guest Entitlements

Currently all but one of you servers are running in VMware. The problem is that even though they are all running as Virtual host in RHN they are on listed as Non-Virtual. In order to use our Flex Guest Cert we need to move all the Non-Virtual to Virtual host or Guest host. Does anyone know how to do this without deleting all the hosts from RHN

Thanks,

Are you using RHN Satellite or the Red Hat hosted RHN site? If the former and you have an account/subscription, this knowledge base article may help (requires subscription/login):

Thanks Spoore,

I have seen this link. Our issues is that all the hosts running in VMware are listed as Non-Virtual. Which means to the cert they look like physical servers. Red hat now defines any server running in vmware as a virtual host. So we need to move our Non-Virtual VMware host to virtual guest or virtual host. This can be done by deleting and re-registering host. I was wondering if someone had a better way to get this done. Moving Non-Virtual host to Virtual host within Satellite.

Thank,
Brian

Brian,

Sorry, I wasn't sure if you meant Satellite or RHN. Have you looked at the api to see if there is something that would help script it?

Regards,
Scott

Yes I've already tested a way to script this to move every host to the correct entitlement however I'm now working with Redhat support to see if theres a better answer. Our system RHN Satellite system is missing 2 RPMs RHN-Virtualization and RHN-virtualization-common. I hope once we get these 2 rpms installed which should be Monday that we will be able to move our host over to guest host or virtual host which will then allow us to call then flex host and our new cert will clear.
I'll keep you posted

Thansk,
Brian
