I can this error on installation of either RHEL4 or RHEL5:
Unable to find any devices of the type needed for this installation type. Would you like to manually select your driver or use a driver disk
Apparently, the installation is unable to read the RAID configured disks.
I googled through, some suggests its due to SATA problem, but i have tried linux all-generic-ide , it doesnt solve the problem.
I have tried linux all-generic-ide irqroll pci=nommconf , that one simply hang at the black screen.
I have tried with RHEL4 & RHEL5 with the above options and without, didn't solve the problem.
the server is a DELL poweredge T300 server. with a RAID 1 on the disks configuration.
There is no option to turn between legacy or compatibility mode in the BIOS. I am wondering anyone has encountered similar problem before, pls advice on what to do.
If i turn off the RAID, everything should work fine already, but RAID is a compulsory option for my company's IT standard.

thanks for helping!
I've seen this before, when the RAID controller isn't picked up by the installer. You have to load it manually. Either contact Dell for the Linux RHEL driver, or contact RedHat, and they can give you the options to put in.
