RHEL 5 supports Oracle 10g r 2 on Itanium Server

Hi

I am new to this forum.

I have taken HP Rx 2660 Itanium server with Operating system REDHAT Linux Enterprise Edition 4.5.

I have upgraded the O/S with 5.1 but facing problem while installing Oracle 10g r2. Got the updates that Oracle 10g r2 is not certified on RHEL 5 or 5.1

Can anybody guide me that whether it is certified or not. OR it is advisable to install the oracle 10g r2 on RHEL 4.5 with service pack 4.

Awaiting reply

thanks in advance

regards

10gR2 IS supported on RHEL5 (at least for x86_64.

Looking at the certification matrix for Linux on Itanium it shows the latest supported is RHEL4 Update 1 (or higher).

You have to log on to Oracle Metalink - do advanced search for the phrase "certification matrix" and the word "itanium" to find the matrix.

Since it does work on RHEL5 on x86_64 you may be able to get it working on Itanium as well but you'd have to work at it. (Actually installing even on x86_64 was a challenge because the installation docs are aimed at RHEL3 and RHEL4 but RHEL5 has some significant differences.)
