RHEL 4 client in VMware not binding to NIS server. Ping works fine and NIS server wo

Hi All,

I am using VMware workstation 6.0.2
Installed RHEL 4 as a virtual machine and cloned it so that I have 2 RHEL virtual machines running. I have assigned static IP address to both systems.

192.0.0.1 this is for server and given host name as station1.hp.com
192.0.0.5 this is for client and given host name as station2.hp.com

NIS Domain name hp.com

I have edited the requied files and NIS server is running in station1. When the machine starts ypbind binds to hp.com and ypcat passwd in station1 gives me the information.

However station2 is not able to bind to NIS server running in station1. In both systems I have made sure that the NISDomainname is hp.com

etc/hosts file in station2

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.0.0.1 station1.hp.com station1

etc/hosts file in station1
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.0.0.1 station1.hp.com station1

I am not very experienced in linux networking and hence I request you to guide me in this regard. I will provide you any further information needed.

Thanks in advance.
