rexec not running on privileged port 512/514

Hi,

I am trying to open port 512/514 for rexec/rsh on my remote linux machine.

xinetd service is running
# # service xinetd status
xinetd (pid 32323) is running...

# netstat -tulpn | grep 32323
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:873 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 32323/xinetd

xinetd service is listening on port 873. I want to make it listen on port 512.
Can anyone pls suggest some work-through?

Can I ask why you think you'd want to run insecure plaintext protocols like those?
Have you read http://www.informit.com/articles/art...p=169465&rll=1 ?
