Relevant Log File for Apache 2 Crashing

OK, this is a really basic question. I've been running a web server (Debian Stable - recently upgraded to Etch) for quite a while, and am gradually getting the hang of Linux. I went away on holiday for two weeks, and when I came back, the server had crashed (or rather, Apache 2 had crashed). Now I'm not asking for detailed help troubleshooting this, as I appreciate it could be any number of things. I just wanted to check whether anyone had any advice on which log files I should check. I figured /var/log/apache2/access.log, error.log were both good places to look. Are there any other obvious places that I should be checking?

Thanks very much.

Really depends on what you run. For instance if you run PHP and error_log was set in PHP.ini (or logging to database) I'd check that too. And a bit of auditing (start by checking system logs) wouldn't hurt either. If you're adapting a worst case scenario approach it only can turn out to be less worse (or so I'd hope :-])
