Relay server

Hi,
on my IT office there is a mail server that works as MX record for our domains and as relay server for our customers (dialup, DSL, and so on).
Generally speaking, for security, antispam, .. this is "bad"?
Thank you

As long as the host is updated when updates are released, is properly hardened and regular auditing is performed and it doesn't provide any other publicly accessible services. Have you tried remote scanning it with say OpenVAS to determine its security posture?
