Redhat 4 on HP server unable to boot up. Shows grub grub message

Hi,

I have a redhat 4 on a Hp Proliant server. I did a restart of the server. now it is not getting to the grub menu.

It shows
Attempting boot from hard drive (C

GRUB GRUB

and it hang there.

I know it has something to do with some controller stuff and i could not figure it out. It used to be working till i reboot

Did you recently do a kernel upgrade on the server?

Do you get a grub> prompt after that? Has the hard drive(s) been detected?

hi avijitp, there was a kernel upgrade though. but it never go to the kernel page though.

hardisk has always been present..

it shows grub grub.. then then the cursor blinking..but i was not able to do anything

Did you try to reboot from your rescue cd and see if the file systems are fine. If so just re-install the grub and see if that helps.
