Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table
Hi,
I have a Fedora box running a domain and a sub domain. It also is the mail server running Postfix and Dovecot.
Scenario: 1. I have created a new user account in the Virtual Alias.conf file and run postfix reload.
"e.g admin@example.com admin_company"
2. This new account can send mail internally and externally but cannot receive mail internally and externally.
The error message internally is: 5.1.1 <admin@threadneedle.com.pg>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table
3. Externally there is no bounce message. I am a newbie so please i really am stuck here and i need help fast because i have been sitting on this issue for 3 burning weeks .
Many thanks in advance.
Phiggy.

Make sure that you have created this userid in the threadneedle.com.pg domain.

Perhaps, the MX record of the domain threadneedle.com.pg should point to the correct mail server which should have the admin@threadneedle.com.pg account in it.
Hope this helps

Thanks again avijitp,
The mail server is fine and works well, because i have just come in to support to this Fedora box. There are other accounts which are working fine, they are also in both domains and sub domain. i think i'll try checking out the local user account on the mail server and i will let you know.
Many Thanks.
Phiggy.
