Reading/Forwarding mail archives into another email account

I've set up an archiving system using qmail-scanner. I would like to be able to download these into an email client, but the emails aren't archived into a mailbox, just a folder.

Is there a way of copying these files so they are recognised by maildir format?

An alternative (if anything preferable) would be to just go through the folder, send each file to an external email account as if it was BCCed to that email.... I'm betting mail could be used in some smart way?

Thanks

You should be able to copy/move those emails into a subfolder under the users maildir directory and change the owner/group to the user and they will show up under the users inbox in that folder.

Create the subfolder in the users inbox first.

Unless I'm completely misunderstanding your question

Thumbs up File ownership is the key!

Thanks for the reply, that really helped... I actually tried that before I posted, but it kept moving the file from the folder within a second or two (qmail with virtual folders on a PLESK VPS).

Now that you mention file ownership though I found that if I moved files over with ownership already changed, it then starts showing up on my mail client.

Thanks again!
