raid grub auto-read-only

cat /proc/mdstat gives
...
md2 : active (auto-read-only) raid1 sda2[0] sdb2[1]
3421760 blocks [2/2] [UU]

md2 is swap
Why is it (auto-read-only) ?
I think it is a fault.

I can only boot on one of the disks because of lacking MBR on the other.
The two disks have different names. How do I figure out which is /dev/sda?

Can I install MBR on both (to be sure) by

grub> device (hd0) /dev/sdb
grub> root (hd0,0)
grub> setup (hd0)
grub> device (hd0) /dev/sda
grub> root (hd0,0)
grub> setup (hd0)
grub> quit

?

fdisk -l
gives some information. However if the "Disk identifier"s and the disk size are identical you will have a problem.
How do you set the "Disk identifier"?
