Question about sar command

Hello dear members

I am using Oracle Linux and I want to run sar to find time relative to start when the heavy write operations started.

The command which comes to my mind is

# sar -d -f /var/log/sa/sa09

where I have to look for 'wr_sec/s' column and find the
corresponding time.

Is the above command correct or should I use something else?

Thanks in advance

Try this, it will narrow down your search:
Code:
sar -f /var/log/sa/sa08 -s 08:00:00 -e 08:20:00 -d
-s = start time and only seems to (here anyway) accept 00:00:00 values. Same format for
-e = end time.

Hope that helps.

Tracking system performance using SAR for some additional tips.
