Question about MySQL auto-increment

Hi,

in master-master replication environment, why it's necessary to specify different auto-increment in two MySQL databases?
What kind of problem can occour without this configuration?
Thankyou

in setting up dual master MySQL replication, the 2 configuration variables that prevent key collisions are auto-increment-increment and auto-increment-offset.
If it is not set ,most common problem is database collisions (primary key collision) coz of two masters both receiving writes, this can lead to corruption
