Push Mail Server with Dovecot or Cyrus or Courier how-to>

Hey Guys,

Does any one know how to build Push-mail server with above open source packages? I am building a mail server for my organization which comprises of Postfix+dovecot+Ldap and other common mailing components.

I need to know how can I integrate Push-mail or SynML in my mail server so that users can access their emails from wireless devices.

I prefer push-mail rather than legacy poll-mail technology hence specifically looking for a solution which would integrate with Popular Open source mailing packages like Postfix and specified above.

I am very interested to see what the responses to this will be. As far as I know there are basically two true "push" technologies, Windows Active Sync and Blackberry BES. Since both options require at least some proprietary technology I highly doubt you will be able to find a solution that would work.

You also don't mention what kind of mobile device, which would make a difference. If you are talking a Blackberry there is really not much choice other than using the Blackberry Internet Service or BIS. If it is an Android device or iPhone then you will probably be limited to using POP/IMAP. The push technologies will require a server and mobile device that both agree on how the "push" operation will work.
