Problems with reverse DNS and recursion with IP delegation RFC2317

Ok, my IP delegation falls into the RFC2317. The problem is, when a PTR query is made, my BIND9 answers a CNAME that points to a PTR. ( explained here http://www.dyndns.com/support/kb/rev...ustom_dns.html and here http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2317.html )

The problem is, this query for some reason is considered recursive. Since my server has recusion disabled, the reverse zone doesn't work, only the direct zones are working properly. If I enable recursion the reverse zone starts to answer.

Did someone had the same problem?

Ubuntu 8.04
Bind9 from repository.

Hi,

The query for an IP address in classless in-addr.arpa delegation is always recursive.
Your dns has to ask first the dns that is authoritative for the whole class C network.
This authoritative dns will look at its records for the dns responsible for the specific subnet and will point your dns to itself to answer the query.
Besides you should not disable recursion for localhost and the local network.

Regards
