Question problems running cgi scripts

I was trying to follow these instructions: http://www.helpdesklite.com/help-desk-setup.html

But when I try to open the helpdesk.cgi I get to see the contents of the file displayed in my browser. I'm not sure whats going on. Thanks for the help.

Assumed you run apache you have to put an AddHandler directive in httpd.conf to execute cgi scripts in any directory.

AddHandler cgi-script .cgi

Scripts must be executable or you will see a "permission denied" error.
