Problem in Networking INstallation


I am new in linux. just now i had created a FTP Server and i tried to install ftp installtion but i am getting the following error after when it comes to select packages (it shows blank screen) and it will install but i am not getting shell (login shell after trying to login in installed OS.

error mssg

"unable to read group information from repositories.
this is the problem with the generation of your install"


these are my server info's

FTP server : 172.16.0.1
Dir: /pub/rhel5/<entire DVD-copied>


on the time of installation i am giving

ftp serveraddress: 172.16.0.1
location dir: /pub/rhel5


please help me to solve this problem
