I'm using a linux server with a networked printer. My client computer is using windows XP. Every time i try to print, I get the error message "RPC Server Not Available" and when I try to view the properties of the printer, I get the message "Print Spooler Service not available".

Unless the print spooler service went out of all (12) of the client computers at once, i'd say that something is buggered with the linux server.

My only problem is.. i have NO command knowledge (I'm a 3 week veteran of linux) and I have no idea how to start any kind of rpc or print spooler service or even how to check to see if they're up and running. Can anyone help me?

More details on your server or host setup. In Redhat or similiar distro's, you can start or run cupsd for printing services, etc.

turns out the problem was on a computer set up as \\SERVER and not the actual linux server itself. I rebooted the computer and all computers printed fine. Thanks for your help though!
