postfix: relay access denied
Hey Guys & Gals,
I've been trying to organise postfix for a new server I've acquired. The main purpose of this server is to provide web services, i.e. webhosting and mail. I've managed to scrape postfix and dovecot together using virtual users all with mysql! Congrats, It works! But I can't send email out to another server using postfix. There is about 100 topics, and pages on google about this, and about as many answers...
So instead of blindly editing my configs and removing "localhost" from my hosts file (???) I though I'd try to understand what this was all about... It seems as if postfix needs an allowable IP range to send emails, where can I set this range? Will * work? And if so, it might be a good idea to authenticate before allowing sending of email through postfix.... Will it still receive email's fine from any external sources with authentication?
Thanks for reading
Mark
