Exclamation Postfix domain name problem

Hi,

I need some help here. I currently have the sub-domain stephen.hillhouse.ca with a MX record as well on the dns server(another server). I can send and recieve mail no problem. The problem is that when I send mail it appears to be coming from user@hillhouse.ca not user@stephen.hillhouse.ca. Can anyone explain why and how to configure it so it does. I am running RedHat Linux ES 4. I am using Postfix and im using SquirrelMail to send it but that shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Any suggestions as to why it trims off the "stephen" in stephen.hillhouse.ca

Thanks in advance for all your help as I am new at this.
Steve

Lightbulb Fixed it

I found the problem. Because I initially had the domain hillhouse.ca, in my host files hillhouse.ca was still there along with stephen.hillhouse.ca. after I removed hillhouse.ca and just left stephen.hillhouse.ca it worked.

This might be useful for beginners.

You can also use "myorigin=" in main.cf to specify that, too.

myorigin

I tried setting myorigin = stephen.hillhouse.ca and for some reason it when the mail was sent it looked like it came from hillhouse.ca. Mistery to me unless someone can explain why?
