POP client to imap server?

Hi,

I'm working on as simple as possible system for sharing an email account between multiple users. Think of it like a primitive customer support queue.

I'm an okay perl hacker. I haven't combed through the POP client modules. But it seems to me that keeping track of the POP client's state (what's been downloaded vs. what hasn't) might get a little complicated. If anyone has some recommendations, please let me know.

I also have no problem setting up dovecot with a shared IMAP mailbox. I *think* it will be relatively simple to inject the email via dovecot's LDA. Is anyone aware of any gotchas?

Finally, the customer isn't going to change what they are doing now. They don't want a ticket system. Their mail host doesn't support shared imap folders either. So, I'm trying to accommodate their dedication to POP/SMTP.

Can they not simply all connect to the same IMAP account?
