Exclamation Please help on squid


hi frnds im a windows based desktop support enginner..in our office client systems are running on windows..servers or running on linux.
and it was maintained by our server admin..we have squid running on..on our firewall. i jus wanna know how to monior the clients activity in internet sites they visiting..and the lan activities also...pls help

Install something like SARGE and use that to produce reports from your squid log files.

Hi,

If you want to check from linux then .. you can see below path.

cat /var/log/squid/access.log --> use this file to find out who is accessing internet and what they are doing.

sorry , frnds i dont've acess to server..and i dont know about linux server..i jus wanna know how to track clients visiting urls...i jus a desktop support server admin is in diff location .. im supporting windows desktops...only plz hlp

Spell out your words. And if you aren't the admin, and can't install any software, then you need to tell your admins to install this, and get it working. Without admin rights on a server, there's not much you can do.

If you can copy the squid access logs to a machine you do have admin rights on, then you can perhaps install Sarg there, and run reports.
